Make sure before filling the tubes that the bottoms are fully depressed, I use a wooden dowel to press down the bottom circle of the tube before filling.
Fill the tubes with your product around 50-60*C. Too hot and the content may make a little hole as it cools, it is a personal choice whether to avoid the little hole or not. For my 6g lip balms I have made peace with the hole, as you can see on my Instagram posts.
For the 50g tubes I do two pours, one about half way and when the contents make a slight film as it cools, I do my second pour and this usually avoids the little hole from forming.
Do NOT fill the tubes to the brim, the content may leak into the rim of your tube and create a waxy stain.
For the lip balms especially you need a steady hand and a pouring device that only lets a slow stream of content into the tube. I used a metal meat basting injector from Lifespace braai tools in the past. I now use plastic custom made pouring molds imported from the USA for my lip balms.
If you need to cool the filled tubes in a fridge also place the tube lids in a separate bowl in your fridge so that they contract to the same degree as the tube itself as it cools.
I have found that any contents poured into the tubes need a gliding ingredient such as soy or beeswax to make the product easy to push up out of the tube.
